Our devotion this morning comes from Matthew 3:5-9 (NKJV)
Wow! Pretty strong verses here. Apparently John the Baptist didn’t have anymore affinity for the religious people of his day than Jesus did. I’m reminded of the verse in John 4:23 where Jesus says, “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.”
Matthew 3:5-9 “Then Jerusalem, all Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
and do not think to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.”
