Quick Daily Devotion, Episode 81

Our Quick Daily Devotion this morning comes from Matthew 13:3-9 NKJV

Summary: A farmer plants seeds and some is eaten by birds, some springs up and eventually dies either because the roots are shallow or the thorns choke it out; but some seed falls on good ground and yields abundant fruit!

3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow.
4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.
5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth.
6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.
7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them.
8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

Questions & Challenge:

1. We must individually ask ourselves which kind of seed are we? If we’re the last seed than we can be confident that He who began a good work in us will finish it. Philippians 1:6. If we haven’t truly surrendered our life to Jesus than we’re one of the first two seeds which is explained in 1 John 2:19 In that case we may even sprout and grow but we won’t yield real fruit.
2. Assuming you’re the last seed let me ask you how much fruit do you want to yield in your life?
3. I want to challenge each of us to ask ourselves how can we yield more fruit or in other words how can we shine our light brighter (Matthew 5:13-15) and make a greater impact on the world for Jesus. Remember, only what is done for Christ will last in the end!
